WINTER FUEL SUPPLEMENT

As we are all aware the cost of fuel keeps rising, due to this unfortunately as of 1st October 2012 there will be a small surcharge of £2 per booking, per week to help towards the cost of heating the pet lodge, this is to remain active until 31st March 2013 and will be in place in subsequent years also. This is only relevant to pets housed inside the pet lodge. Please be aware this is PER BOOKING not per pet, if your pet will only be staying part of the week this supplement will still be implemented.

18th February 2012

Its a very sad day at the pet lodge today as we have had to say goodbye to Clock our little guinea pig…..Clock was 3 years old last month and diagnosed with a growth on her kidney around 3 weeks ago, since then she has lost so much weight and has stopped eating…so very sad! How is it that when you want to cry and have the right to cry you fight the tears back, when in the vets I so wanted to just burst but contained myself until in the car, but why, why do we do this?

‘Goodnight my sweet little girl, you will always be in my heart’

NEW FOR 2012 (as of February 2012)

Lots of new ideas in mind to improve the pet lodge this year! We propose to make the runs that we have currently into hutch/runs, therefore providing rabbits/guinea pigs with more room day and night, they will be able to stay in them giving them inside accommodation and outside without having to move them day and night. As you know most of our bunnies object to being picked up so it will save the stress of this and giving them all they could want and need in their little holiday home. We will be turning the current lodges into 2 large lodges (they are 4 at the moment) therefore giving bunnies over 7 foot length, 24″ deep, 20″ high. Customers will be given a choice of a large hutch or a hutch run. We’re not sure when this will all be up and running I have to talk nicely to my Husband who has offered to make my new hutches but we propose to start soon and will keep you posted via the web site. I can’t wait it will be so much better for our visitors and time spent putting them out in the mornings and in at night will now be spent giving more fuss and love so that has to be a plus.

NEW DECISIONS FOR 2012

Please be advised that after a lot of debate we have decided that any Parrot or Bird boarded with us that has not had its wings clipped will not be let out of its cage due to safety issues, obviously I know the importance of giving the birds time out of their cage but because of us only having one main door into the pet lodge we feel, as much as we are very careful that it could only be a matter of time before one seizes the opportunity to fly out. We would be absolutely distraught should this happen and hope that new and old customers will understand our decision.

February 2011

Welcome to our new web site, this is the latest development to Weston Coyney Pet Lodge.

April 2011

Don’t take our word for it that we want the best all round service for your pets see our comments section here is a couple of them:-

I stayed at Weston Coyney Pet Lodge for the first time last week for a long weekend. I don’t usually get to go on a holiday like this as my mum is a veterinary nurse who worries so much about leaving me with people she doesn’t know. When we arrived at the pet lodge mum was really nervous and we were greeted by Kyla who chatted to my mum and said hello to me; instantly mum relaxed. Kyla asked lots of questions about what I like and disliked and what I was allowed and not allowed just so I stuck by the rules whilst I was staying at the lodge. Mum left very happy and relaxed as she knew I was in safe hands as Kyla was ……………………..

A big thank-you for taking such good care of my cats and always being on hand short notice. It gives me great peace of mind when away to know they are getting lots of love, fuss and play time in the comfort of their own home, it makes it so much easier having ……………………………………………

Read more on our comments page and remember you are more than welcome to come and visit us before booking to make sure your pet will enjoy their holiday as much as you enjoy yours.

Summer holidays are coming up and we do advise both existing and new customers to book early to avoid disappointment.

July 2011

We have just added another two hutches suitable for rabbits to the inside of the pet lodge taking us to a total of 7 hutches available inside now, we also have 6 hutches suitable for guinea pigs. Thats all we can fit inside now as we like to build them big to give those bunnies as much room as possible. (photos will be added shortly to the gallery) We have also had a new ‘bird house’ to enable us to breed more budgies, given the popularity of our budgies hopefully we can now keep up with demand.

November 2011

A small pet boarding business doesn’t get inspected as do dog and cat kennels, it is a shame as it would be nice to get that recognition and give the public the knowledge that a premises and accommodation are to standard. However here at Weston Coyney Pet Lodge, because we register the premises to run a ‘pet shop’ to enable us to sell our budgies, it does give us the added bonus of having our premises inspected twice yearly, hopefully this helps your decision of booking with us.

Thanks to all our customers this year I have just sent off another £37 to Cotton Tails Rescue, MBE Mairwen Guard who runs Cotton Tails sends a big thanks to you all. This means we have sent £87 in total this year which is brilliant.

December

Baby budgies are ready now! We will save until Christmas if your looking for one for a present, please call and arrange an appointment to view, there is no commitment to purchase. Parents of the birds can be seen and all birds are ringed and come with a birth certificate, remember we do sell cages and accessories.

Fly Strike
Remember in the summer to check you rabbits for dampness or smell around the rear end as both attract flies which will lay their eggs and hatch into maggots and start eating away at you rabbit, try to keep them clean and dry at all times and if they are prone to a ‘dirty bottom’ check them regularly, if your unsure consult a vet, it is very nasty and your rabbit will suffer.
Heat
Keep your bunnies out of the direct sun, they do not cope with heat at all well, make sure they are in a shady position in the garden, check water bottles every day. If it is particularly warm freeze a 2 litre pop bottle with water in then lay it in the hutch for bunnie to lie against, remember unlike their ‘wild’ partners they can’t escape down a burrow in the shade.
